This is a fundraising event for Yuma Rotary and all of the monies raised fund community and Rotary humanitarian projects, Teacher of the Year program. youth scholarships and grants.
The event actually started in 1958 as the “International Buffet,” which was a competition between Yuma’s Rotary clubs to see who could create the best meal.
However, Walt Kammann’s German sausages consistently won the Most Outstanding Course category. Originally, family members ground the meat and hand-twisted every single sausage.
The sausage itself is a secret recipe that started in Germany, and came to America via the Kammann family, who first brought it to Wisconsin and then to Yuma. The recipe passed from Walt Kammann on to his son, Bob, who in turn gave it to his son, Jeff, a third-generation Yuma Rotarian.
Now, Yuma is the only place one can find Kammann sausage.
