Description

Millions of digital products are launched every year yet only a selected few become successful businesses.

While market unreadiness, mediocre product discoverability and competitive forces could all be reasons for failure, more often than not it is a bad product strategy that destroys the dreams of startups.

  • It is poor product thinking when entrepreneurs fail to understand real user problems.
  • It is poor product execution when products launch much later than expected.
  • It is poor product management when founders struggle with creative people (software developers and designers) and fail to understand their language.
  • It is poor product design when users don’t enjoy their ‘first product experience’ and therefore fail to convert.

Build products is hard. And building great products is even harder. A great product happens because of hundreds of small choices that someone took along the way. While great product management is half art/half science, a lot of the skills can be taught and the common pitfalls can be avoided.

Full of practical exercises and best practices, this course is designed to help you learn the secret sauce and build products that users want.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED?

  • User Research: customer interviews, user personas, competitor/lean testing
  • Product Definition: vision statement, product canvas, lean framework
  • Product Direction: feature prioritization, product roadmap template, MVP and MSP
  • Painless Functional Specification: spec writing, wireframing activity
  • Development Process: how to work with developers, agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), estimating timelines, backlog grooming, sprint cycle, velocity, process setup in Trello
  • Validation (After Launch): qualitative/quantitative analysis, surveys, NPS, metrics in E-Commerce/SaaS/Marketplaces, experimentation and A/B testing, common pitfalls
  • Deep Dive (Real Product Applications): push notifications, onboarding, pricing, app logins, app user reviews

WHEN WILL THIS COURSE TAKE PLACE?

This workshop will take place on Saturday December 3rd, 2016. Free lunch and coffee will be served.

  • WHY IS THIS COURSE RELEVANT TODAY?

Gone are the days where just ‘launching a mobile app’ was sufficient to win. There are now more than 1.5 million apps in each of the App Store and the Google Play Store. It’s not much different on the desktop front: a quick search for HR software on GetApp returns more than 200 results.

As a founder/product builder, making the best product possible will maximize your chances of success. Attend this course to learn valuable tactics and apply it to your product in order to ship loveable features that solve user real problems.

WHAT PRACTICAL SKILL SETS CAN I EXPECT TO HAVE UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE?

  • This course will arm you with everything you need to know about product management- from product ideation all the way to user validation.
  • Learn how to uncover compelling insights from user interviews, create a brilliant product vision/roadmap, prioritize features smartly, write functional specs, wireframe product features, work effectively with software developers and track the best metrics.
  • This workshop is suitable for people who just have an idea and want to know how to make it happen as well as those who wish to take a live product to the next level. Full of practical exercises, it is highly interactive and will cover tons of real-life applications.
  • WHO WILL BE TEACHING THIS COURSE?

Rawad Khalife - Head of Product at RealSpace, a B2B SaaS startup. With more than 5 years of consumer & enterprise product experience at SAP, dubizzle and Careem, nothing excites me more than building viable and delightful products.
