Blues. Booze. Boogie: The Vincent Flatts ethos in three words.
If you've seen the Birmingham (UK) band on the road, you'll know exactly what it means. If not, you'll figure it out real fast once you do. Essentially, Vincent Flatts Final Drive is a southern-infused, blues 'n boogie band, with a set that takes audiences from country rock to fast and exciting boogie. But while the music goes through the genre gears, one thing is constant: Steve 'Bertie' Burton's killer voice.
After 20 years on the road with the original line up, Bertie – who in the 80s fronted UK rock band Starfighters (support on AC/DC's Back in Black tour and Ozzy Osbourne's Diary of a Madman tour) – took time out. He wanted to get away from the temptation that comes with being in a band. The result? A fresh perspective, a new approach to life on the road and a bag of great new material.
It all seems to be working. Since the beginning of 2018, the band has performed at venues and festivals across the UK, and Scandinavia, and has recorded a brand-new EP in advance of a more polished studio album, set for release later this year. The 2019 diary is packed with dates across the country, as well as in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Shows in Germany and France are also in the pipeline, so watch this space.
Support comes from London blues band Born Healer.
