 Piatti Quartet & Simon Callaghan

The up-and-coming Piatti Quartet make a welcome return to Conway Hall, joined by Director of Music Simon Callaghan to perform Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet, dating from 1940. They complete their richly varied programme with Brahm’s final essay in the genre and Turina’s folk-influenced ‘The Bullfighter’s Prayer’, originally composed for a quartet of ‘laúd’, Spanish folkloric instruments similar to mandolins.

Turina | La oración del torero (The bullfighter’s prayer) Op.34
Brahms | String Quartet No.3 in B-flat major Op.67
Shostakovich | Piano Quintet in G minor Op.57

Nathaniel Anderson-Frank (violin)
Michael Trainor (violin)
Tetsuumi Nagata (viola)
Jessie Ann Richardson (cello)
