CARUS THOMPSON

Originally making his name as part of explosion of the Australian Roots movement in the 2000’s alongside good friends The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd and Pete Murray, troubadour Carus Thompson is a first class songwriter who’s songs & stories connect. As well as his Colonial mates he's toured with Jack Johnson, Dave Mathews and Damien Rice, however in the UK it was his 3 tours opening for folk star Seth Lakeman that really put him on the map, earning him some BBC2 play through folk-roots aficionado Bob Harris.

February sees Carus again touring the UK opening for Seth on his Theatre Tour. Luckily Carus also plays this special double bill show in London.

At home in Oz Carus has been nominated for many an award and critically lauded. FORTE magazine called his latest album ISLAND “a welcome return from Australia’s answer to Bruce Springsteen” and two songs of the album were shortlisted in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition, run out of Nashville, USA.

London has always been a great town for this antipodean folk-rock talent, with his energetic and passionate approach to performance always pulling a crowd. He has the rare skill of being able to emotionally engage, whilst also entertaining - always ensuring the crowd gets out of their seats.

A singer-songwriter he is but with a good dose of Oz pub energy thrown in.

GREG ARNOLD

Special guest Greg Arnold will open the show and then back Carus on electric guitar and piano. Greg Arnold is folk-rock royalty in Australia, with his band Things Of Stone And Wood he penned some of the biggest Australian radio hits of the late 90’s, including the top ten smash “Happy Birthday Helen”.

Things Of Stone & Wood were regular visitors to London back in the day and this’ll be a rare treat for fans of this all conquering acoustic band. The band won an ARIA and Greg was named Australian Songwriter of the Year by The Australian Performing Rights Association in 1993.

Greg is back in London launching his brand new solo album “Against The Wheel” - an acoustic album recorded in his new home of Geneva, Switzerland. With one song in French, a rhythm section of knee slapping and two songs with the Red Cross and Red Crescent choir he is clearly enjoying his time as a bit of a Swissie.

Also, in addition to performing the new record, as part of these intimate and special shows Greg will of course revisit some TOSAW classics.

Always happy to accommodate an obscure back catalogue request, he also promises to share at least one moderately amusing anecdote from an occasionally bizarre life in folk-rock.
