As President of The STAR DAY Foundation, I was honored to announce the creation of “THE OFFICIAL STATE BISON HERD OF TEXAS FUND” at “The Spirit of STAR DAY 2013 Celebration” conducted by The STAR DAY Foundation on STAR DAY, Tuesday, February 19, 2021 in the Texas State Capitol Rotunda beginning at 12 noon to celebrate the anniversary of the 167th birthday of the Great State of Texas. Three Texas partnering schools and nearly 250 students participated. The event was sponsored by State Senator Kel Seliger and State Representative Tom Craddick. “The Fund” represents a most challenging statewide effort of families of students, students, teachers, librarians, principals, businesses and others to collectively and collaboratively pioneer and lead a long-term effort to create and maintain a permanent donation savings investment account managed by The STAR DAY Foundation in partnership with a leading Texas Bank. The Fund’s annual interest shall support an annual grant in September each year by The STAR DAY Foundation to the Official State Bison Herd of Texas management team under the supervision of the Caprock Canyons State Park Superintendent to support their conservation, preservation and restoration work to pioneer and lead efforts to help “SAVE THE OFFICIAL STATE BISON HERD OF TEXAS—A STATE OF TEXAS TREASURE!” for the young people of Texas.

I wish to thank The Texas Bison Association President, Cecil Miskind, for permission to share the The Texas Bison Journal 2014 Edition with our readers. As a storyteller, I look forward to sharing with you the story of the outstanding work of our student and adult volunteers who are pioneering and leading the campaign trail effort to help “SAVE THE OFFICIAL STATE BISON HERD OF TEXAS—A STATE OF TEXAS TREASURE!” for the young people of Texas as their annual conservation, preservation and restoration service achievement of merit STAR DAY birthday gift for our state.

I invite each Texas family of a K-8th grade student and others to volunteer and make an annual donation in the name of their child as an “AGE IN DOLLARS (AID)” gift from their child to The Fund to help “SAVE THE OFFICIAL STATE BISON HERD OF TEXAS—A STATE OF TEXAS TREASURE!” I invite every Texan to volunteer to “BE A BISONSTAR BUDDY BUCKAROO!” Donate at least a “Buck” to a volunteer student in your community during “THE GREAT TEXAS BISONSTAR BUDDY BUCKAROO ROUNDUP” events conducted during September and March each year. The Motto of The Junior Pioneers and Leaders of the State (PALS) of Texas Volunteers, a conservation, preservation and restoration service achievement of merit youth group sponsored by The STAR DAY Foundation, is-“WORK HARD, HAVE FUN AND MAKE HISTORY!”
