NEW EVENT: “Learn 2 Ride” this Summer at the Bud Harris Cycling Track

We’re teaching all ages how to ride bikes at this free event in partnership with CitiParks and POGOH

You’re never too old (or young) to learn the joy of two (or more) wheels!

In partnership with CitiParks and POGOH, BikePGH will be popping up at The Bud Harris Cycling Track to provide free group learn-to-ride classes for youth (5-12), and big kids through adults (12 and up) this summer! We will also have a balance bike area for walk-up free practice for younger children and POGOH will have bikes as well as a tandem, tricycle, and low-step bike from their adaptive fleet for the public to test out on the outer track (participants must be 14+ to ride POGOH bikes and must be accompanied with a parent or guardian if under 17 years old.)

Stop by and practice, test out a POGOH bike, go for a car-free ride around the track, sign up for an instructor-led class, or let your kids loose at our kids balance bike zone! We’ve got options for the whole family. And while you’re there, say hi to The Bike People who will be there to talk all things biking in Pittsburgh as well as share info on OpenStreetsPGH, PedalPGH, and all the great things BikePGH and POGOH have in store this year!

Bud Harris Cycling Track, 1401 Washington Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15206

Register for Group Classes!

All Group Learn to Ride classes are 90 minutes in length from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm by preregistration only. Our classes use a “Balance First” method so training wheels should be removed beforehand. Pedals may also be removed during class. Please bring your or your child’s properly fitting bike in good working order with tires pumped up firmly (we will not have time to repair bikes during the class.) A limited number of loaner bikes will be available (first come first served.) Please wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops) and please bring a properly fitting helmet. Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. We can provide helmets as long as supplies last.
