The Mayo Clinic Division of Primary Care Internal Medicine is pleased to offer this one-day program to provide family practitioners, internists, general practitioners, advanced nurse practitioners and physician assistants with current information on the care of the elderly, including clinical evaluation, management strategies and innovative practice models. The program also includes 7 ABIM MOC points.

Target Audience

This course is designed for primary care providers, internists, family physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who provide care for elderly patients, including those living in the community, assisted living and nursing home settings.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Classify optimum blood pressure parameters for the older adult in light of the new hypertension guidelines
  • Develop a practical approach to complex decisions about osteoporosis management in the oldest old
  • Recognize the importance of HIV screening in older adults
  • Review cases in complex geriatric dilemmas in anticoagulation, hematologic conditions, insomnia, and diabetes
