Lounge on Lincoln’s lawn, sip bourbon, and enjoy live bluegrass music at the 9th annual Bourbon and Bluegrass! Join us for this fantastic event on Saturday, May 18 and/or Sunday, May 19 from 1pm – 5pm and help protect this invaluable piece of our nation’s history!

President Lincoln and his family spent a quarter of his presidency here and it is where he drafted the Emancipation Proclamation. Help us keep this historic gem open and available to share Lincoln’s untold stories at our largest fundraiser of the year.

  • One-Day General Admission
    – Adult (with two drink tickets): $70.00

  • Two-Day General Admission
    – Adult (with two drink tickets): $115.00
    – Adult: $75.00
    – Youth (ages 7 – 20): $50.00

  • Single Day Parking Pass: $20

Each General Admission ticket includes:

  • An afternoon of live bluegrass music from critically acclaimed musicians
  • Exterior preservation tours of Lincoln's Cottage
  • Unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, more food options available for purchase

Adult With Drinks tickets also include:

  • Two drink tickets for specialized bourbon cocktails or premium non-alcoholic drinks (ID required; additional drink tickets available for purchase during event)

LINEUP


EVENT DETAILS

Guests will be able to sign up for exclusive exterior preservation tours of President Lincoln’s Cottage with Director of Preservation Jeff Larry, at no extra charge. Spaces are limited, and sign-up will be on the day of the event.

COME EARLY and join us for a Log Cabin Jam Session -- 12:15pm in front of the Cottage at the Lincoln statue! Open to all ages, all experience levels. Bring your own instrument; session led by fiddler Will Sears of Goldbug Revival

Attendees are allowed and encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets and chairs to the event.

Food will be available for purchase during the event. We're excited to feature delicious offerings from local vendors!

VOLUNTEERING

We need your help! There are still volunteer spots available for both days of the festival. Volunteers work one of the festival days and receive a free ticket to the day they are not working. Work generally is from 12pm-6pm; volunteers must be 21+. To volunteer, please email cwalpole@lincolncottage.org.


TAX DEDUCTION INFORMATION

Bourbon and Bluegrass is President Lincoln's Cottage's largest fundraiser of the year. Ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations will help ensure that this unique and important resource is preserved for generations to come, and supports our educational programing for children and adults.

All donations to President Lincoln's Cottage are tax-deductible, as are a portion of event tickets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is the festival?

President Lincoln’s Cottage is located on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home. For GPS use 140 Rock Creek Church Road, NW as your destination address. Because we’re located on a federal campus, visitors will need to check in and show their government ID at the entry gate.

Exploring beyond the boundaries of President Lincoln's Cottage is not permitted. Pets are not allowed on the grounds.

What’s the parking situation?

Parking onsite is limited and only available with advance purchase of a parking pass. Parking passes are available on a first come, first serve basis, for $20 when you purchase your admission ticket. Guests are encouraged to walk, bike, use public transit, taxi, or rideshare to the event.

NOTE: If you have not purchased a parking permit, you will have to park on the street. No day-of parking services will be available.

Does my child need a ticket?

Children ages 0-6 are free of charge, however, we do ask that you include them in your registration. Children and young adults aged 7 – 20 will need a Youth ticket.

What if I want more drinks while I'm at the event?

Your Adult With Drinks ticket will include two drink tickets good for either alcoholic or premium non-alcoholic beverages. Additional drink tickets will be available for purchase onsite.

What if there is inclement weather?

This event will be happening rain or shine. We suggest bringing an umbrella and other appropriate gear in the case of rain.

Can I walk around the grounds?

No, President Lincoln's Cottage shares a campus with the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Please do not approach any buildings but the Cottage itself and the Visitor Education Center, and please stay within the boundaries of the festival for the duration to help us respect our neighbors' space and honor their service.

Can I bring….?

  • Outside alcoholic beverages: NO
  • Outside food: YES, plus we'll have lots of great food options onsite.
  • My dog or another pet: NO
  • A blanket or other picnic supplies: YES
  • A folding chair or camp chair: YES
  • Cigarettes, a vape, a pipe: NO - smoking is not permitted on the campus
  • A tent or canopy: Only if it does not stake into the ground. We may ask you to relocate your tent to avoid blocking the view of other patrons.

Is there any way to get a free ticket?

Yes! As a volunteer for Bourbon & Bluegrass, you will be scheduled for one day of volunteer work and receive a free ticket for the other day of the festival. Please email cwalpole@lincolncottage.org for more information about how to volunteer.

SAFETY & VISITOR GUIDELINES

Armed Forces Retirement Home

President Lincoln’s Cottage is on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Security for the Armed Forces Retirement Home requires visitors to show valid identification at the security gate in order to enter the property. Please be prepared to show your ID.

Exploring beyond the boundaries of President Lincoln's Cottage is not permitted and results in trespassing on federal property.

Pets are not allowed on the grounds.

Covid-19 Safety

Visitors three years and older are encouraged but not required to wear face masks when inside buildings on the grounds. The music, tastings, and games will take place outside on the grounds of President Lincoln's Cottage.

Please note that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. Choosing to visit President Lincoln’s Cottage, you voluntarily assume all risks related to COVID-19 exposure. By completing this transaction, you agree to observe all posted guidelines.
