With the Free Comic Fest we bring the feeling and flavor of a comic con to those kids who may not otherwise have the chance to go to a media convention. Featuring local artists and musicians, along with an array of vendors, this free event aims to help inspire at-risk kids to aim big and see themselves as heroes. The kids receive free comics and other goodies from local comic book shops. They get to meet and mingle with not just some of their favorite characters, but local artists who will inspire them to explore artistic pursuits such as drawing, writing, singing and more.

 

Dare to Dream is a dance we put together to honor those tiny heroes who fight battles every day that you and I can only imagine. Their spirit and smiles shine brightly through it all. We aim to give them back a small portion of that positivity through this invite-only event. We welcome the kids of Brave Little Fighters and Stone’s Buddies of Oishei Children’s Hospital to this annual prom-styled event, to be able to experience the world as a child, and truly be happy. If we can show them even a sliver of the power these kids have, in just a few short hours, then we have done our jobs properly.

 

 

 

 

The donations we receive offer us many opportunities to serve our community. Whether it’s funding our own events to inspire, paying it forward in the form of mementos to remember us by, or allowing us to help out other charities, we make the funds work for us and the children we make smile. Smaller charities or larger one, like the Feedmore WNY or the Patricia Allen Fund, we love to support our community partners however we can. Your support means all this and more!

 

 

The Justice League of WNY is a New York based 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to work together with local hospitals, charities, and community organizations to bring hope, confidence, and smiles to both kids and kids at heart. Whether it is a smile, hug, photo, or a simple conversation with a child, we are here to make a difference in their lives and to empower, encourage and inspire children through the powers of imagination and cosplay. Our members make over 75 free appearance’s each year at a wide range of community and charity events. Dressed in high quality costumes, our goal is that kids can meet and be inspired by their favorite heroes. To help keep the excitement going, each child receives a selection of positive momentos, including inspirational trading cards, “Hero in Training” wrist bands and more. Children are our future, and a little encouragement, a kind word, a fist bump or even a hug, can create smiles that last for days or longer.
