THE ST. JOHN’S RUMMAGE SALE
The Rummage Sale Committee is a group of parishioners who oversee the planning of St. John’s annual Rummage Sale. This committee gathers household items, clothing, shoes, and many items to sell. They also prepare for a Silent Auction with many donated items ranging from vacation homes, grills, gift baskets and more.
The sale is St. John’s largest fundraiser of the year. It takes many hands to setup and break down the event, as well as many hands to work on the days of the sale itself! Our Rummage sale takes place in October and allows our parish to work together have fun, and raise money for the parish. The more hands we have, the more fun we have, and the workload is less taxing.

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is the core reason we have been able to put this sale on for the past 79 years, and it is a wonderful way to meet other parishioners, especially if you’re new. We aim to have record-breaking participation this year in the hopes it will make our sale the biggest success yet. If you can donate your time for one day or the whole week, each little bit helps. Sign-up sheets will be in the Narthex in mid-September.
BAKE SALE NEEDS
Do you specialize in delicious baked goods? We definitely want your most crowd-pleasing dessert at the bake sale. Small or large — our crowd is not fussy. Our sale is Saturday, October 15th. Items can be dropped off on Friday in the Undercroft. Please mark them “For the bake sale.” Items can also be dropped off at the table on the morning of the bake sale.
SILENT AUCTION
We seek art, antiques, unique gift certificates, rental properties, boat and motorcycle rides, musical guests for parties, and other out-of-the-box ideas.
Two co-chairs are needed for the silent auction. Please get in touch with Mary Bowers and Paulette Rider if you’re interested in co-chairing this event.
ESSEX ATTIC/JEWELRY
Essex Attic usually consists of china, random small antiques, little area rugs or runners, gift baskets, and unique bottles of wine. The jewelry department hopes to receive all the jewelry you haven’t been wearing for the last 2-3 years. This department also features better belts, scarves, jewelry boxes, and kids “jewelry.”
