Regent’s Canal Walk Reviews

Lorraine
The guide was well-organised and knowledgeable about the section of the Regent’s Canal we walked. It was a part of London I was not familiar with so I found it really interesting and a very pleasant walk. We ended up in a market in Hackney which was an added bonus. Really enjoyable and well worth doing.

Very welcome cloud cover on this walk in very hot weather. Our guide, Susan was prompt to meet us at Angel tube and it was a surprisingly short and interesting route to pick up the Regent!s Canal path. This was part of the Canal I’d not explored before and being a Saturday in Summer, the area was very busy and loud at times. Susan had use of a microphone which was extremely welcome. She introduced us to art works and surprising historical facts as we progressed and gave me an appetite to return when the area is less busy, to learn more.
My friend and I enjoyed this Saturday walk along the Regents Canal. Susan gave some interesting historical information and stories and it was good to see areas that we were unaware of. As it was a Saturday morning the route was buzzing with activity. It was a very interesting walk with a very sociable group.

“An interesting stroll along the canal. Easy walking for anyone. Plenty of stops to find out nuggets of info that may one day come in handy for a pub quiz. It says 90 mins it was 2 hours and ended at a lovely market which had lots of lovely lunch options. Well worth finding out a little more about our fabulous city.”

“Regents Canal walk – our excellent guide, Susan, took us along the Regents Canal from Islington, somewhere I had never been before. This is a lovely walk, very informative, we passed Alfred Hitchcock’s head (Gainsborough Studios) saw some very interesting buildings – both old and new – the Hackney Sharks – then ended up at the market in Hackney. Thoroughly enjoyable.”
Mark
“Very enjoyable and relaxed tour of what I considered to be a hidden canal path, with really interesting information about the history of the area. Well worth a visit!”
Ken
“This was a fascinating journey along the Regents canal. Our guide, Susan, managed to give a clear appreciation of what an important link this was to the life of Londoners throughout its history. In addition she was able to answer even the most obscure questions posed by some of the group. the Regents Canal walk was well-paced , interesting and informative. As with all walks it would have been helpful to know in advance where the walk would end.”
Patricia
“Good walk with Susan as an informative, polite and organised guide – the walk itself isn’t desperately interesting but good to see another part of London that is quite new to me. Ended up in buzzing Hackney Market (with a delicious Thali lunchbox from one of the food stalls) and walked through London Fields to catch the overground train to Liverpool Street Station. Again interesting to see how the other half live in that part of London.”
Elizabeth
“Really interesting walk along a section of the canal I’d never seen with some fascinating bits of history. The guide was very nice and caring of people on the walk…the stretch is a good few km and has steps up and down from the canal a few times, so people with mobility issues need to bear that in mind.”
