About

THLEEP — is a sound and light art performance; combined as a synaesthesia to reduce anxiety and promote healthier sleep cycles.

Originally produced as ‘The Healing Chamber’ in 2015, the event promotes the positive attributes of sleep towards improved mental health – especially during winter months. In 2021 THLEEP will be released as an online experience, postponed as a live performance until gatherings are once again safe. Since mid 2020, production has built a sound library (available for free on this site) to preview the event, scheduled later this year. Our participating artists offer some of the best in contemporary sound and light art. The work is curated as 40-60 minute compositions, passive meditations to calm the mind and restore equilibrium.

The combination of neuro-acoustics and vision physiology was adopted to supplement a daily requirement for the positive frequencies of light and sound – essential for regulating our lives. The neurology behind routine exposure to daylight, and more natural sound, is one well documented throughout scientific history. Whether a mother's voice or the rain on leaves, there are regenerative frequencies with conditioned responses that resonate on a cellular level; even if not consciously recognised for their healing properties. Consequently the full spectrum light of the sun, has a significant role in maintaining equilibrium; the production of hormones and neurotransmitters, essential for healthy cycles.

THLEEP is by no means a scientific symposium, we are artists interested in exploring the context of our work and the potential for scientific synergy. Presented by ‘Soul Fiction’ (Artist led events) these performances of light and sound will explore the compounding relationship of art, science and community; an anxiolytic to calm the nerves and combat the stresses of day to day life with people set to invest in their better health.
