Nephrology and Transplantation for the Clinician is a two-day conference designed to update providers on a range of nephrology topics relevant to current medical practice but with a focus on hypertension in 2020. Through a combination of lectures, case-based presentations, and literature and guideline review, this course will deliver up-to-date and cutting edge information that can be directly integrated into clinical practice.  For those who wish to continue their educational experience, hands-on workshops are available.

Abstract Submissions
Abstract submissions are being accepted for Nephrology and Transplantation for the Clinician: 18th Annual Update from Mayo Clinic. They should be based on original research in the field of Nephrology and Kidney and/or Pancreas Transplantation. Case reports will also be considered. Abstracts should consist of introduction, methods, results and conclusion and should be less than 500 words in total. Accepted abstracts will be presented at dedicated poster sessions. 

Abstracts must be submitted by Tuesday, December 31, 2019 to be considered. Abstract authors will be notified via email by Friday, January 10, 2020.

Target Audience

This course is designed for nephrologists, transplant nephrologists and surgeons, cardiologists, internists, primary care physicians, family practice physicians, other specialists, medical trainees, and advanced practice professionals who participate in the care of patients with kidney disorders, hypertension and kidney and/or pancreas transplants.

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize recent developments and challenges in managing resistant hypertension.
  • Construct a management plan for hypertension complicating pregnancy.
  • Compare various blood pressure measurement techniques.
  • Differentiate treatment options for ANCA associated renal disease.
  • Compare various transplant options for any particular renal failure patient.
  • Critique various treatment strategies for hyperkalemia.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16.25 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Participation information will be shared with ABIM through PARS.
