ESE & THE VOODUU PEOPLE have been tipped by The Guardian in their preview of the best new music of 2019:

“Playing like a combination of distorted Jimi Hendrix guitars with a husky Otis Redding voice, former busker Ese Okorodudu’s five-piece band has the potential to bring London’s soul scene from its half-empty basement bars into packed venues and festival stages. Their maximal sound can be heard on a debut EP, Dynamite, released in January, with a full-length almost finished.”

Graduating from London’s most demanding performing arts school — the streets, as a busker — singer-songwriter Ese Okorodudu (vocals, guitar) is backed by the incendiary Vooduu People: ex-Noisette Pharoah Russell (drums) and Basile Petite (bass) plus Sheena Ross (backing vocals) and Jackson Baird (keyboards).

Born and raised in South London, Ese has seen it all, done most of it, an authentic musician based in Brixton.

A fiery, sensitive, poetic songwriter, she is also what the legendary hip hop engineer/producer/beatmaster Jay Burnett (Beastie Boys, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Afrika Bambaataa etc) describes as “the best natural singer I’ve heard in 30 years”.

She and her band are inspired by a range of legends, from Jimi Hendrix to Amy Winehouse, via Bowie, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Skunk Anansie and Erykah Badu.

A killer live act, they are signed to Quadrafon Music Industries and have released four singles, “Dynamite”, “Fairytale” (both 2017) and in 2018 “Up In Smoke (live in Brixton)” with Burnett producing, and “Silver Spoon”, produced by Darrel Sheinman of Gearbox Records. The fifth single, “Keep On”, also produced by Sheinman from the forthcoming debut album “Up In Smoke”, is released on New Year’s Eve.

Ese and Sheena also joined the lineup of Alabama 3 on their sold-out UK tour in November and December 2018.

Born and raised in South London, Ese has seen it all, done most of it, and is no stage school product but the real, streetwise thing.

A fiery, sensitive, poetic yet wildly entertaining songwriter, she is also what the legendary hip hop engineer/producer/beatmaster Jay Burnett (Beastie Boys, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Afrika Bambaataa etc etc) describes as “the best natural singer I’ve heard in 30 years”.

She and her band are inspired by a range of legends from Jimi Hendrix to Amy Winehouse, Skunk Anansie to Erykah Badu.

A killer live act, they are signed to Quadrafon and will be recording their debut album in Spring with Jay Burnett.

With songs that wouldn’t sound out of a place on a Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, Della B blend the breezy, west coast sound of the 70s with elements of funk, soul and their own unique brand of classic rock.
