The 11th Annual Heart Rhythm & ECG Course concentrates on general ECG understanding, guidelines on atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and CHF management. Course topics include, recent advances in A-fib management, interventional procedures and their indications, evolving stroke risk score, and indications of advanced ablation techniques for ventricular tachycardia. This course allows providers to update their medical knowledge, enhance clinical skills, and support professional development through a dynamic curriculum. Attendees realize important advances in the medical field while addressing desired educational needs and current practice gaps. Through didactic lectures, case-study presentations, and audience interaction, this activity strives to develop and promote continuing education with the ultimate goal of enhancing patient care.

An optional pre-course session on Wednesday, December 7th offers attendees a basic review of ECG readings. Please note this session is only available for in-person attendees.

Requirements and guidelines may be amended as CDC, public health and other relevant guidance are adjusted.

Target Audience

This course is intended for general internists, hospitalists, family practitioners, and allied health staff participating in cardiac services.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss rationale for revised CHADS VASC (Congestive heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, stroke, vascular disease)
  • Describe simplified criteria for aberrancy or ventricular tachycardia
  • Identify chamber abnormalities and diagnostic changes
  • Recognize common ECG patterns
  • List current guidelines for the management of ventricular arrhythmias
  • Discuss current guidelines for the management of atrial fibrillation, including role of ablation
  • Review current guidelines for implantable defibrillator in primary prevention of sudden death
  • Discuss early evaluation and acute management options for both atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
  • Review guidelines for ICD implantation in both primary and secondary prevention of sudden death
